If you like scenery continue North to the end of Interstate 95 three miles east of Houlton. After Customs take Route 5 to Woodstock where you meet the St. John River and the Trans-Canada Highway (Route 2), turn right (East) for Fredericton. Go to Fredericton exit for RT 640 (Hanwell Rd – but do not take earlier exit for town of Hanwell).

It is about 20 miles farther via Houlton but easier driving especially with improvements to RT 2 (Woodstock to Fredericton), Driving time is about the same either way. Canadian Customs can be more difficult, and time consuming at Houlton.
